Managing Time with Wall Clocks, Time Clocks and Discipline

How to effectively manage time is an ongoing conundrum at almost every business office and continues to flummox both individuals and supervisors alike.  At NE Time Solutions we specialize in time management. Of course, we do so with the most effective and comprehensive selection of wall clocks, time clocks and access control systems available online. Individual time management goals are a little more difficult to focus on and attain. We've searched the web and came up with a few tips on how to manage your time better, especially after you punch a time clock and get to work.

  • Create a time plan at the beginning of your day. Write down your plan for the day and don't start other work until you know just what conversations and activities will be accomplished, at what time of day and at what length. Do this every day.
  • Schedule downtime between tasks. Planning for distractions and allowing time for mental breaks actually increases productivity. If you plan time for stepping away from your desk, it'll become easier to stay focused on those tasks while completing them.
  • Install time in your schedule for reading and writing emails or responding to phone calls. Don't let the ringing phone distract you from an important task.
  • Assign a time for completion for each task. Don't just go with the flow and decide that it will be done when it's done. Set a goal for important tasks to make sure that they are completed when required. Have a beginning and ending times for every conversation, activity or distraction.

Though the time clocks and wall clocks help management effectively keep track of their employee's time on the clock, it's up to the individual employee themselves to effectively manage their own personal time while on the clock.
